Global Warfighter has hosted a Discord server for nearly two years. Until now, it’s been invitation-only and primarily used for private competitions. Recently, we gave the server a full reset to better serve a new current community. This meant clearing out old channels and archived competitions from the past 18 months, creating space for a fresh start. From here forward, the server will be open as a public community, available 24/7, year-round.
If you’re a team or player who would like to recover threads from before the reset, please reach out to GWL administration via our contact page. We have the saved threads.
EDIT: August 2025
This page should serve as a guide to how our Discord server is setup. It’s important to note that some features are experimental and a work in progress.
*This page has been updated to include a Discord server economy and we encourage users to engage so we can gage a reward system that best serves our community. Users who engage and help us learn how the economy will work with our community will enjoy extra boosts and rewards in this initial stage with our thanks.
We’ll be looking for bug reports and feedback from all community members that wish to engage.

From Teamspeak to Discord
The Global Warfighter League originally operated on a Teamspeak server, which for years was the go-to platform for online team communication here. Teamspeak provided reliable voice chat for competitive play, and many early communities, including ours, relied on it to bring players together. While it served its purpose well at the time, it was limited in scope: voice channels without much integration for text, media sharing, or community-building tools beyond basic chat.
Today, Discord has taken that foundation and expanded it into a modern, all-in-one platform. With Discord, players and teams still get high-quality voice communication, but now alongside persistent text channels, media sharing, community organization, event coordination, and seamless integrations that support our competitive and social goals. By making the move, we’ve aligned our server with the tools and features that best serve our members today, and with a platform that matches our long-term vision of a connected, engaged community.
Getting Started in the Server
When new members join the Global Warfighter League Discord, the best place to begin is the GWL Discord Server Guide. This guide includes a 👍│〙welcome page, a clear outline of our 📜│〙rules-of-engagement, and an introduction in 👉│〙roles-channels to how Roles, XP Ranks, and Channels work. The guide also includes a set of tasks to help you get familiar with the community. You’ll start by introducing yourself in the 🙋│〙roll-call channel then move on to learning about Roles, Ranks, and Channels. While not required, the guide points you toward the 🔔│〙intel-hub channel where you can claim roles, an important step that unlocks more benefits as you explore.
In addition to the guide, we encourage you to network in the 🗯│〙basecamp channel by leaving a simple message and connecting with others. And, of course, every member should review the community standards in the 📜│〙rules-of-engagement channel to understand how we keep the space welcoming and competitive. As you continue to participate, you’ll gain access to additional channels through XP progression or by claiming specific roles, opening up more opportunities to engage with the community.
Server Categories and Structure
The Global Warfighter League Discord is organized into several categories that make it easy to find your way around. New members begin in the Orientation Area, where the essentials are explained and roles can be claimed. From there, you’ll gain access to the Tactical Ops Center, which includes key functions like ping roles, the 📨│〙invite and 🎫│〙support-ticket channels. The Assembly Area serves as the core of the community, featuring most of the text channels, forums, and a place for members to share feedback. For real-time conversations, the Open Voice Comms category provides public voice channels along with an 💤│〙afk channel for when you need a break.
Some areas of the server are unlocked through XP progression or by claiming specific roles, while others are tied to subscription benefits. For example, the Comms Array Station is dedicated to temporary voice channels that are created and managed by subscribers and boosters. This setup ensures that every member, whether casual or competitive, has a structured way to participate, while also offering exclusive options for those who choose to support the community. The mix of XP-based access and role-based permissions makes the server dynamic, rewarding engagement and giving members more to explore as they grow within the community.
Roles and Access Levels
Access to the Global Warfighter League Discord is structured around roles that determine what members can see and do. At the ground level is the @everyone role, which provides only the most basic access and a limited set of channels. From there, members progress to @human (formerly @verified), which unlocks more of the community and serves as the first step toward deeper engagement. Beyond that, the XP system comes into play. With 26 levels available, the most important milestone comes at Level 3, where users are granted the @member role. This role opens up nearly the entire server and represents the highest level of access available without moving into subscriber or booster tiers.
Above @member are the subscriber tiers, @agent, @operator, and @handler, alongside the @booster role for those who support the server directly. These premium roles provide exclusive benefits, including access to subscriber-only text and voice channels. They also unlock the ability to create temporary voice channels, with each higher tier expanding the number of participants that can join. While the details of the XP progression and subscriber perks are covered in later sections, these roles form the backbone of the server’s structure, rewarding both community participation and direct support with meaningful privileges.
The XP and Rank System
To keep the community active and rewarding, Global Warfighter League uses an XP system for activities and chat on our server. There are 26 progression levels, each tied to a military-style call sign. As members participate in conversations, contribute to the community, or earn bonuses through events, they climb through these ranks. The journey begins with @Zulu (Level 1), where new arrivals receive the @Recruit role. At @Yankee (Level 2), the Recruit role is removed and upgraded to @Enlisted, and at @X-Ray (Level 3), members shed the Enlisted role to gain the permanent @Member role, unlocking full access to the server’s main features. Beyond that, ranks continue to climb, but @Member status is always retained.
The full progression runs as follows:
@Zulu (1) → Recruit
@Yankee (2) → Enlisted
@X-Ray (3) → Member 🥂
Then the XP roles continue:
@Whiskey (4), @Victor (5), @Uniform (6), @Tango (7), @Sierra (8), @Romeo (9), @Quebec (10), @Papa (11), @Oscar (12), @November (13), @Mike (14), @Lima (15), @Kilo (16), @Juliet (17), @India (18), @Hotel (19), @Golf (20), @Foxtrot (21), @Echo (22), @Delta (23), @Charlie (24), @Bravo (25), @Alpha (26)
Every time you gain a new level, your old rank is replaced automatically so the progression feels smooth and rewarding.
How XP is Earned
Members earn XP primarily by being active in the community, sending messages in channels, joining conversations, and contributing to discussions. On top of this, special XP can be awarded for completing achievements, participating in giveaways, or during weekend XP boosts where points are earned faster. This keeps the system dynamic and ensures that both casual and competitive members have opportunities to climb the ladder.
Commands and Tracking Progress
The system also gives members control over tracking their progress. In the designated channel, you can use the following commands:
- /rank → Check your current level, XP, and role.
- /levels → View the leaderboard to see how you compare with other members.
- /profile → Get a snapshot of your Discord profile with XP stats included.
- /daily → Claim a daily XP bonus when available.
- /weekly → Claim a weekly XP bonus when available.
- /top → Display the top members by XP.
(Depending on settings, some of these may vary, but members will always have access to commands for checking their rank and the leaderboard.)
Why It Matters
As you move through the levels, you’ll unlock not just prestige but also perks and rewards tied to higher XP milestones. While the details of those perks are revealed along the way, the point is simple: the more you participate, the more recognition and access you gain. Whether you’re here to casually chat or to grind your way up the leaderboard, the XP system ensures that activity is always rewarded.
Achievements and Rewards
The Global Warfighter League server uses the Achievements plugin to reward members for hitting milestones and staying active. Achievements are unlocked by doing things like chatting, joining voice calls, inviting friends, or simply showing up regularly. When you earn an achievement, you’ll receive bonus XP to push your rank higher and coins from our server economy system that can be saved or spent later. This makes participation not just fun, but rewarding.
There are dozens of built-in achievements, and we’ve enabled all the defaults. A few examples include:
- First Message → Send your very first message.
- Chatterbox → Reach a set number of messages.
- Daily Streak → Stay active on consecutive days.
- Voice Veteran → Spend time in voice channels.
- Invite a Friend → Bring someone new into the server.
Each of these milestones triggers a reward, and the more you unlock, the more XP and coins you’ll accumulate.
Commands You Can Use
To keep track of your progress and see what others are achieving, you can use these commands in the designated channels:
- /achievements → View your personal list of unlocked achievements.
- /achievements @username → Check another member’s achievements.
- /achievements leaderboard → See who has unlocked the most achievements.
- /achievements recent → Show the most recently unlocked achievements in the community.
These commands let you track your growth, celebrate your milestones, and even compete with others for bragging rights on the leaderboard. The more active you are, the faster you’ll unlock new badges, earn extra XP, and collect coins for rewards.
*The Server Economy
The Global Warfighter League Discord runs a built-in economy system that gives members a new way to earn, spend, and compete. Every member has a virtual wallet tied to their account, and coins can be earned by being active, unlocking achievements, participating in events, or receiving rewards from giveaways. Once earned, these coins can be saved, traded, or spent in creative ways that add an extra layer of engagement to the community.
Economy Commands
Members can manage their balance and interact with others using a set of commands:
- /balance → Shows your current coin balance.
- /daily → Claim a daily coin reward (resets every 24 hours).
- /weekly → Claim a larger weekly coin reward (resets every 7 days).
- /pay @username [amount] → Send coins directly to another member.
- /richest → Displays the top members by coin balance (the “rich list”).
- /coins leaderboard → See the overall rankings of who has earned the most coins.
- /profile → Shows your profile including balance, XP, and other stats together.
Depending on how the plugin is configured, coins may also appear as rewards when you earn achievements, win giveaways, or complete certain events run by admins.
How Members Can Use the Economy
The beauty of the economy is flexibility—there are a lot of ways members can put their coins to use. For example:
Trading: Members can send coins back and forth, creating their own micro-deals like “I’ll design you a banner for 200 coins” or “I’ll trade game keys for coins.”
Competitions: Admins can run events where buy-ins are required (like a 50-coin entry fee for a tournament) and the winners walk away with the pot.
Rewards: Special perks or custom roles can be tied to coin thresholds, like “reach 1,000 coins to unlock a unique tag.”
Recognition: The richest leaderboard gives bragging rights to those who save or hustle their way to the top.
Coins don’t just exist for show, they’re designed to be useful. Whether you’re stacking them for prestige, trading them with teammates, or spending them on exclusive perks, the economy plugin turns everyday activity into a game of its own.
Using the Server Economy
The Global Warfighter League economy system isn’t just about earning coins, it’s about how you use them. Members have access to a wide range of commands that make the system interactive, competitive, and fun. Here’s how each one works:
- /buy → Purchase items directly from the server shop. Items may include perks, boosts, or community rewards.

- /coins [@user] → Check the coin balance of yourself or another member.

- /use [item] → Use an item from your inventory and activate its effect.
- /work → Put in an hour of “work” and return to claim your paycheck in coins.
How Members Can Benefit
This system combines daily rewards, games of chance, and trades to create a dynamic in-server economy. For example, a member might work every day to build up coins, then risk some in dice or rps for faster gains. Others may buy items from the shop that grant perks, trade those items using /give-item, or even pool coins together to help a teammate climb the leaderboard. With richest, members can track who’s dominating the economy, while daily and weekly activities keep everyone coming back for more.
The economy is designed to reward both consistency and creativity. Whether you’re grinding daily paychecks, gambling for big wins, or collecting shop items to trade and use strategically, every choice contributes to your standing in the community.
