Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 13.0.2 was released on Valentine’s Day 2023. Players will need to connect to the internet to download and install the update. Previous to this, the 13.0.1 update was the last major balance patch added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and that came in 2021.
While a surprise to some, the game has brought new content for players to enjoy this year. For example, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has hosted some new Spirit events in honor of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate 5th anniversary. This was to give players a chance at Spirits that feature some characters from other games, such as Pokemon Scarlet along with Violet, and Hades.
As mentioned, this comes a few years after the balance patch Ver. 13.0.1 (Released December 1, 2021), which is likely why it surprised some players. Fighter Balance changes linked below. These updates certainly show that Nintendo hasn’t forgotten the game or their community.
