As we move into Fall, GWL is still rounding out the current features we’ve enabled for the site. There are a number of pages to still be built. This includes not only the site but Discord pages explaining the channel and roles fully. It’s better to do this now rather than when we have a full server with a number of issues to engage with. The site is still be setting up to handle multiple games and multiple communities while still bringing back the old pages and leaderboards. We’ll dive into each of these below.
The GWL Economy: A New Way to Earn on Discord
We’re excited to announce a new system on our Discord server designed to reward our most active members: the GWL Coin Economy. Our goal is to create a dynamic, rewarding environment where your participation directly translates into tangible rewards.
We believe a strong community is built on interaction and fun. As we continue to develop new pages on our website that explain the various channels and roles on the server, we’re simultaneously launching this economy to give our members a new way to earn and connect. We want to foster a space where everyone feels they can find their place, whether it’s actively chatting or simply gathering with friends.
How It Works: Earn GWL Coins, Get Free Games
So, what are GWL Coins? They are our new server currency, and they’re your ticket to a massive vault of digital game keys. We have a huge collection of keys that we’re eager to share with the community, and this new system is the best way to distribute them.
Here’s the simple process:
Earn GWL Coins: You can earn coins by being active in our Discord server. The more you interact, chat, and participate, the more experience (XP) you’ll gain. That XP will then be converted into GWL Coins.
Participate in Giveaways: We’ll also be holding special events and giveaways that will distribute a generous amount of GWL Coins. This is a great way to boost your coin balance quickly!
Redeem for Game Keys: Once you’ve earned enough coins, you can trade them in for a digital game key from our ever-growing pool of games. It’s that easy. Your activity on the server gets you free games.
Subscriber & Booster Benefits: Double Your Rewards
We’re adding a special perk in the future for our dedicated supporters. Members in our “Subscriber” tiers and those who are server Boosters will receive a bonus amount of GWL Coins every month as part of their subscription or booster benefits, in turn giving them a significant head start.
This is a fun and rewarding way for us to thank those who support the community. We’re currently finalizing the logistics and rules to ensure a smooth and fair experience for everyone, but we’re thrilled to be moving forward in this direction.
Stay tuned for more updates as we roll out the full system and get ready to earn!
GWL Pages Explaining Member Benefits
We’re currently constructing new GWL pages here on the website to dive into the benefits of becoming a GWL member through our subscriber tiers on the Discord server. This has been put on hold because as described previously, we’re still working out the logistics of such a system so we can’t very well get into a deeper explanation as of yet.
New pages explaining the roles and channels will be forth coming though. The roles are pretty much all set and the channels are as well. However, on the server there’s been more of a military style vibe for the explanations to keep things fun and themed for GWL. Our new pages will be more down to earth with the narratives of what’s going on and why. Expect these soon.
Supported Games and Communities
Our site was always meant to work out the logistics of competing teams and players to have the tools they need to compete online. After working out a new player profile and team profile page we hope to get into more interactive functions for both players and teams to compete here at the site. This has been a “work in progress” for us and we’ve had a few stumbling blocks along the way. So, still a work in progress.
We’ve also been adamant about getting the old leaderboards for past supported games up before we start on new stuff. You’re likely going to see this in stages. While getting a list of all the ladders and games supported in the past is relatively easy. Setting up “time accurate” environment for each player and team has a new set of challenges for a “read only” leaderboard. How long was someone at the top, and for what ladders is something we’ve been grappling with.
While we are still working on this aspect, you’re likely going to see something along the lines of clicking on a player or team and seeing “highest rank” on the ladder and how many times they competed. Tournaments are easier because they were brackets and not something that was constantly changing. In fact tournaments might just come back first and likely using the same bracketed framework we had in the past.
Seasonal leagues were something just coming into fruition before we stopped doing competition but there may be enough there to support time frames and “best for the season” type of leaderboards. Still a work in progress.
Wiki?
The idea of bringing back our wiki for competing games has been brought up. in the past our wiki existed for downloads of competition mods and game secrets or help files depending on the game the wiki was created for. With so little visitors coming to the site and no competition as of yet, this whole idea has been put on the back burner. It’s certainly on our list but with everything else on the list for us, it’s not a priority.
If you like the idea of having a Wiki like we had in the past, make your voice known in our forums.
