This was a conversation when we were discussing bringing Global Warfighter League back. It’s one of the reasons we allow every warfighter here to create their own competition. Our reasoning was that individual communities would police their own competitions. We are all gamers here but we can’t be on top of every game and every available hack/cheat that is possible for every game.
Combat Arms was mentioned above but we don’t even know which version is more secure to play or why. I’ll bet you the Combat Arms community knows. I’ll wager there’s a bunch of people that knows if Combat Arms competition can work online and how. To be clear, they reached out to me and that in itself should be an indicator that they know the score when it comes to online esports with their community and game.
Our goal here is to create esports infrastructure for those people (or as mentioned in another conversation somewhere else, video game developer partners who don’t want to worry about the esports side). These people want to walk into an infrastructure already in place and into a proven online competitive method that would allow them to include esports into their gaming community or game structure.
Communities build trust within themselves and know how to keep that trust. Video game developers can develop methods of anti-cheat within their game or get third party anti-cheat companies. We can build an esports infrastructure because that’s what we know how to do.
There will always be cheaters and hackers. We’re trying to rebuild a competitive esports community here of gamers who know that to be the case and each game community/clan/group will develop their own set of ‘rules of engagement’ that takes cheaters and hackers into their calculus.
To bring us back on topic, TK-421 is part of the Red Team and he has a number of ghost accounts that he’s offered for testing. There’s an ongoing discussion in the Red Team’s forum concerning this. Those looking to test the system for Bug Bounties or to see how the system works should request to join the Red Team.
I think we should at least consider an “Official GWL Test” ladder. It’ll get people familiar with the GWL esports system while showcasing what we have to offer for interested communities and future esports partners.
This is a legitimate concern. Our internal conversations on Discord solved this problem months ago. Essentially there are a number of ghost accounts setup to make challenges and match reporting daily so the test competition admin will have interaction on their ladder and actually be able test all the functions of the solo ladders.
I like the idea of having an actual official test competition or actual “GWL Official” game competition for members to join. We’ll make that part of the discussion/agenda this weekend for our weekly GWL Staff meeting. I’ve actually had a couple people from the “Combat Arms” community reach out to me on Discord. So far Combat Arms has been the only community to reach out so that may be the place to start.
As of June 1st 2023, we’ve received feedback from the community through email and our contact page. We posted a reply to the above announcement page at Steam and our website here (as below).

One of the driving forces behind our competitive community has always been our competitive gaming community itself. GWL would like to continue this grass roots motivation of being an online community for gamers… by gamers.
We regard the members of our GWL Steam Group as some of the original members of our competitive gaming community. It only made sense to turn to this community when looking to grow the league’s presence.
A Call To Arms
We have noticed the numbers in our Steam Group have dropped over the years. At the time of this posting it is 968 members. There was a time when it was QUITE a bit more.
We’re asking our current GWL Steam Group community members to help bring our old membership numbers BACK by bringing our Steam membership up over 1000 members. Everyone in our Steam group are free to invite other people to join. Simply right click on your Steam friend’s name.
As part of our return and growing our footprint online, we’d like to bring a Discord server to the Global Warfighter community for organization, streaming, and to just have a welcoming place for gaming with your friends.
As our GWL Steam Group membership rises above 1000, Global Warfighter League will put up a Discord Server for our members to gather and play online.
Swag, Drip, Rewards and Incentives
After our Discord server, we’ll be looking for staff members, streamers, influencers and friends of the community. There will be incentives and rewards for our Global Warfighter League members and staff who help Global Warfighter League Grow. More to come…
